hmmm by the way it seems that the examples for kanji (words) are ok
but the sentece examples don't work... what's up with that?

2oro, remember when you were wondering about googling stuff when you
don't know the full phrase? this seems to work, try this on google:
"all your * are belong to us" (remove quotes) :3

or for example "know 1000...10000 kanji" (don't remove quotes)

imho awesome!

Random trivia:
　・ after 龥 0x9FA5 kanjidic gets very strange,
　　missing meanings and characters not being displayed properly
　・ 仝 is not a kanji or a cjk character yet the unicode class
　　InCJKUnifiedIdeographs in perl seems to think otherwise
　・ kanjidic2 contains meanings in other languages than english
　・ in kanjidic/edict the first line is just a comment so don't count it
　・ anything that is not on the 214 部首 list is *not* a radical,
　　every 漢字 has only *one* radical (one of the 214 部首)

all g1-8 general use 音読み ie excluding ones rarely used --> only 300 (!!!)

ok now I don't know how reliable the info on ttp://www.kanjijiten.net/
is and whether it's based on official govt information or not but
seems legit to me lol

(if you haven't got these already on your box)

$ apt-get install sun-java6-jdk
$ apt-get install mysqld

...then

$ cd /mnt/hda1/
$ mkdir zorobot

$ wget -c "ttp://zorobot.googlepages.com/zorobot08-alpha0.21.zip"
(change the ttp to http ...bypassing spam filter)

$ unzip zorobot08-alpha0.21.zip

get these two .jar files, put them into zorobot directory
jaxen-1.1.1.jar (ttp://jaxen.codehaus.org/releases.html)
kakasi.jar (ttp://www.kawao.com/java/kakasi/#doc1_151)

now that you have the dictionaries go back to main directory and
$ java -mx512M -cp jdom.jar:mysql.jar:jaxen-1.1.1.jar:tidy.jar:kakasi.jar:zorobot08-alpha0.21.jar:. net.sf.zoro.ext.db.mysql.MySqlKanjiImport
$ java -mx512M -cp jdom.jar:mysql.jar:jaxen-1.1.1.jar:tidy.jar:kakasi.jar:zorobot08-alpha0.21.jar:. net.sf.zoro.ext.db.mysql.MySqlEdictImport

to fix the problems with saving macros and kanjidic entries
being displayed in wrong order in games and lookups
$ mysql -h yourusername -u root -p
(put in the password you specified for zorobot db)

ALTER TABLE mean DROP PRIMARY KEY;
ALTER TABLE ont DROP PRIMARY KEY;

if you want mecab to work, first install it
$ apt-get install mecab

while in the zorobot dir do this:
$ echo 'cat - | while read LINE; do echo "$LINE" | iconv -c -f sjis -t eucjp; done | mecab | while read LINE; do echo "$LINE" | iconv -c -f eucjp -t sjis; done' > mecab.sh
$ chmod 700 mecab.sh
(yeah I know it looks lame but it works)

edit config/settings.txt and then set
mecab.home=../mecab.sh

to test if it worked, while on irc type
^start edict url=ttp://www.google.co.jp
(zorobot should start a game based on all words used on www.google.co.jp)

to make the bot reply a lot quicker (0 delay) and tweak the default settings
download and put these files into your zorobot folder

you should immediately notice changes after restarting

if you want to make your own changes edit CustomSetting.java and then
$ javac -cp jdom.jar:mysql.jar:jaxen-1.1.1.jar:tidy.jar:kakasi.jar:zorobot08-alpha0.21.jar:. CustomSetting.java
